Meet The Principal

Leslie Tilbrook {MSocSci (RMIT), BA PolSci (Northwestern University), DipTeach (California State University, Northridge)} commenced working at St Philip’s College in July 1990, and became Principal in 2023.

Leslie started her teaching career in the Peace Corps, an American volunteer organisation, and was stationed in Popokaba Zaire for two years. She returned to Southern California upon completing her service and worked at Van Nuys High School in the Humanities department.

Leslie met her Australian husband Mark in Los Angeles and moved to Alice Springs where Chris Tudor employed her to replace the Home Economics teacher, (despite Leslie not knowing how to use a sewing machine). In the early days Leslie taught English and French and coordinated the first Work Experience program. As the senior school grew, Leslie introduced Economics and Accounting to the curriculum. She was very involved in the SPC Volleyball program for many years and managed the Verdi Football Club for 12 years. She has held various positions at the College, including Head of Business and LOTE, Head of Flynn House, Careers Counsellor and Deputy Principal.

Leslie and Mark have two daughters; Taylor, who graduated in 2009 and currently works as an Occupational Therapist at a London hospital, and Chloe, who graduated in 2012 and is currently completing her studies to become a Paramedic. Leslie’s interests include reading, golf, bush walking and travelling.
