Young Territorian's select their activities, set their goals and do the activities whilst recording their hours online. Once they reach 100% completion and meet their goals they are invited to attend The Award Ceremony at Government House to be given the certificate signed by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. The certificate is recognised locally, nationally and internationally. It is also linked to the NTCET curriculum as an elective.
An Award certificate may leverage a young person entering the workforce and when applying for tertiary education. The program demonstrates that a young person can commit, be consistent and can work with other people. Many young people already do activities outside of school that may be counted towards their education via the DoE program. D of E is recognised through the SACE board of studies as a Community Development Program which means young people who complete the program receive an Award certificate that may be counted towards their Senior School Certificate ie 10 credit/ 1 subject = a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award certificate.
